Recognised Spaces

Each recognised space is guided by shared standards of compassionate, non-judgemental practice — supporting both parents and babies.

For families, this means you can attend with confidence, knowing you will be welcomed, respected, and truly held.

How it works

There are two ways to be part of Parent Baby Spaces — beginning with a recognised foundation, and extending into ongoing learning, reflection, and support.

Both are rooted in a shared commitment to creating spaces where parents feel safe, supported, and truly held.

The difference is in the depth of ongoing commitment and development behind that recognition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Practitioners listed within Parent Baby Spaces have voluntarily chosen to align their work with the Parent Baby Spaces Code of Practice, Minimum Standards, and Safeguarding Statement.

Some spaces hold Recognition status, while Enhanced Recognised Spaces have made an ongoing commitment to continued reflective learning, support, and development.

This means they have committed to:

    • Prioritising parental wellbeing alongside baby development

    • Creating emotionally safe, non-judgemental environments

    • Following safeguarding and safety guidance

    • Working with compassion, inclusion, and respect

    • Reflecting on and continually developing their practice

Recognition within Parent Baby Spaces does not mean someone is a therapist or medical professional (unless separately qualified), but it does reflect a commitment to holding spaces with care, integrity, and responsibility.

  • Parent–baby classes are supportive environments, but they are not a substitute for clinical mental health or medical care.

If you are struggling with your mental health, you are not alone — and support is available.

  • There are two ways to be part of Parent Baby Spaces — beginning with a recognised foundation, and extending into ongoing learning, reflection, and support.

See the top of this webpage for full info.

  • Not at all — and your experience is deeply valued here.

Parent Baby Spaces is not a membership in the traditional sense, and it is not about how long you’ve been doing your work.

    It is about something different.

It is about making visible your commitment to how your space feels for parents — not just what you offer.

Recognition within Parent Baby Spaces shows that your work is aligned with shared standards around emotional safety, inclusion, and respectful, compassionate practice.

For some, the foundation recognition is enough — a clear and meaningful step to show this commitment.

For others, there is a desire to go further — to continue reflecting, developing, and being supported in the emotional depth of the work they hold.

This is not about adding something unnecessary.

It is about standing behind the quality and intention of your space in a way that parents can recognise and trust.
